One of the best parts about Christmas is ALL THE TREATS. These Christmas cookies kicked off the holiday season in the most perfect way, mainly because I got to make them with two of my most favorite people.. my mom and Bri!
My mom went to a cookie decorating class around Halloween with some of her friends; and I’m not going to lie, I was jealous. Their cookies turned out so pretty and figured if my mom could do it, so could Bri and I. We planned a girls day to get to work. While we were used to baking with more of a classic frosting versus icing, we were up for the challenge.
It came at no surprise that my mom brought out TONS of sprinkles and icing color options that she bought for decorating. Why she thought all this was necessary? I’m honestly not sure.
We used my Great Grandma Julia’s orange Christmas cookie recipe, which added a special touch to the day. I have so many memories with these cookies (and more!) from my Great Grandma’s house on Christmas Eve, so I love keeping the tradition alive by making them each year.
I’m not going to lie, this was an all-day process. Bri spilled blue icing all over the table. I spilled sprinkles all over the floor. And my mom grumbled because her gingerbread men were ugly. We also had a few accidents that led to immediate cookie consumption. I wouldn’t have imagined it any other way. <3
