Happiest Holidays

Can you tell how excited Bailey and I are for the holidays? We’ve been celebrating by drinking lots of peppermint mochas (or tree stand water), admiring (or knocking over) our little Christmas tree and cuddling while watching The Holiday almost every single day (until around 3 am when it’s time to run under the Christmas tree and around the apartment like a possessed creature).

This little 5’5” tree was the perfect addition to our apartment for the holiday season. My heart was set on getting a real tree this year, and I wasn’t about to give in on this.. even after my mom insisted I wouldn’t be able to carry it from the tree place in Old Town back to my Gold Coast apartment. She thought I “needed a male friend to help.” Excuse me? This gal needs no man. I may have had a few people honk and make comments, and some older lady for sure took a picture on her digital camera (as in I actually SAW HER DO THIS), but I got the tree back. Little did I know getting it in the stand was the hard part. My short little arms were struggling trying to hold the tree up straight while tightening the bottom. Of course Bailey knocked the whole thing over two days later. I probably shouldn’t admit this publicly, but it turns out I didn’t exactly have the tree stand set up properly. 😂 Ya live and ya learn, right? The tree is thankfully straighter than ever and hasn’t taken a tumble again.. yet. Cross your fingers!

I’ll be heading back to Michigan this weekend to spend time with my family. Can’t wait! My parents moved away from our hometown when I was in college, so we’ve had to create new traditions, including watching old home videos and laughing nonstop at how embarrassing we were as kids. I tried convincing my family to get cute matching Christmas PJs. We couldn’t get the boys on board though. My mom, Kailie (my brother’s girlfriend) and I got some fun onesies, so I’ll be sure to share on Instagram. They’re ridiculous but in the best way.

Anyway, the both of us (yes, the little guy too) want to wish each and every one of you Happy Holidays! xx

    I agree with Bri…..
Your comment on “I don’t need a man” is so true. Do you remember when you were very young and you told me you were going to move to California and be a journalist….and I said better find someone. You said then, I don’t need anyone, I will do it myself. Sweety, you sure are. Very proud of you!
And I’m sure going to miss being with all of you at Christmas. Life changes and new traditions are good but nothing matches to our memories we all shared in the past years. Love you….Merry Christmas to you and Bailey💕
