I know I’m stating the obvious, but I took a break from Blonde and Bailey. I wish I had a good excuse — I don’t. And the longer I stopped blogging, the harder it became to come back. I was honestly a little intimidated to start blogging again. I started focusing on what people would think, “Why does this girl start and stop this blog?” “Why is she so inconsistent?” I had to tell myself to snap out of it. I’m really a “you do you” type of gal, so here I am. This isn’t my job, it’s a creative outlet for me. I’m not a failure for taking a break; we all need them sometimes. But I missed this outlet and want to write again, so if you want to still follow along, hi again.
Let’s catch up, shall we?
These past few months have been nothing short of fabulous. I’ve honestly never been happier. So many things seem to be falling into place in life, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Here are the highlights of what’s happened, the “executive summary” of my life (lol jk, I’m weird):
I met Alec. If you follow me on social media, you’ve probably wondered who the new handsome face is in a lot of my pics — that’s my boyfriend Alec! We met through a mutual friend in the summer (and by met, I mean we were totally set up), we hit it off, and the rest is history. I’m sure you’ll continue to read about him. 🙂
I’ve been working away at my new job. I started working at content marketing agency in June, and it’s such a good fit. After graduating from Michigan State, I worked at a public relations agency for a couple years before going back to school to get my MBA at Depaul in Chicago. When I was in grad school, I knew a role in content marketing after graduation would be a top choice. It took a couple months between when I finished my MBA and when I got and started my job. I’m not going to lie, it was hard. Interviews after interviews is exhausting and frustrating, which I’m sure most of you are familiar with, but I knew I didn’t want to settle for a role/company I wouldn’t be happy with. In the end, I definitely feel like the job I got would have been the best fit out of everything I explored. So if you’re in a similar situation, stick with it. There’s light at the end of the tunnel!
I did Whole30 for the second time. I cheated, again. Now, I know this isn’t some kind of big life achievement but I find it inspiring and helpful to hear other people’s health journeys. I ended up cheating thanks to Briana.. She came to town and insisted I drink beers with her, so I caved. Besides that, I stuck to it. I know the Whole30 rules say you need to start over if you cheat, but I didn’t do that. It was good enough for me. I’m really trying to stick to an overall healthy diet so I’ll keep y’all updated on that.
Here are some of my favorite Whole30 recipes:
- The Defined Dish’s EPIC Whole30 Baked Meatballs
- PaleOMG’s Bacon Chili
- Real Simple Good’s Breakfast Burrito Casserole
These are just some of my favs, let me know if you need more recs!
I celebrated family and friends. From weddings to babies, it’s been an exciting period for a lot of my family and friends, and I’ve loved being able to celebrate with them.
I’ve LOVED living in Chicago. People still ask when I’m moving back to Michigan, but it’s not going to happen. I seriously LOVE my life here in Chicago, and I didn’t feel that way when I was living in Lansing. It wasn’t a fit for me. I’ve been in Chicago for more than two years, and it still feels like a dream. I can’t tell you the amount of “pinch me” moments I have just walking down the street that this is my life and where I live. I’m so proud of myself for following my dream of moving here. I know it’s hard to make that kind of decision, but I didn’t want to live my life wondering “what if” and encourage anybody who is feeling the same way to also take that leap of faith. <ahem, Bri>
I think that’s about it for my highlights for now. If I’m missing something important, I blame just getting over the flu for my brain right now. Now about this coat..
I can’t get over this leopard Kate Spade coat. Unfortunately I just looked online and it’s not available, but you could create this look with any leopard coat. I paired it with the Spanx faux leather leggings, which are so worth the hype. They’re great for any body size, too!
THIS BACKPACK. I can’t tell you how much I love this Tumi backpack. It’s the perfect bag for work days and traveling, and you can just tell the quality is so good. I’ve been paranoid using a tote on the Red Line during rush hour traffic ever since last year when my wallet was stolen at a doughnut shop. I figured a backpack would be better, and this one is the absolute best. I use it all the time, and even used it on this Saturday that I took photos because I had to make some returns.
Okay, that’s it for now. Talk soon!
All my love,
