Happy Thursday! Well, it’s official.. summer is over. For me, at least. I think there’s technically still a couple weeks left. Labor Day Weekend marked the end of a great couple of months. Honestly, fall has always been my favorite season. I love everything about fall… the boots, fur vests, sweaters, scarves, pumpkin everything, my birthday ;)… But for some reason, the end of summer has really hit me hard and I can’t shake it. I’m actually sad. For good reason, though. This has honestly been the best summer of my life, and I’m genuinely bummed that it’s over. I’ve had so many great days and nights with friends and family, and I’ve never felt more blessed. The rumors are true; you can’t beat summer in Chicago.
I knew I needed to end summer with a bang, and thankfully Bri was coming to town so I knew we’d be in for a good weekend.
We decided we’d be chill the Friday night she arrived. Typically we overdo it when she first gets to town then we’re tired the rest of the weekend, but not this time. We did some shopping, had salads at Sweetgreen, and then came back to my place for movies and face masks. Oh, and may have gotten a cannoli from Eataly, too. We figured we deserved a treat for eating healthy dinners. 😉
I gave her the full “Hannah Saturday Morning Experience” meaning I made her come to a workout class (her first SoulCycle class!), stop by the farmers market and grab drinks at Starbucks. Then, we were ready to hit the beach. We visited the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in the afternoon to feed Bri’s creative soul. I’ve been dying to try an ice cream cone from the Original Rainbow Cone on Navy Pier so we spent some time on the pier to grab those and some drinks.
In case you’re wondering (because I definitely was)… the ice cream is orange sherbet, pistachio, a vanilla with nuts + cherries, strawberry and chocolate. It’s not only super pretty, it’s sooo good. I know it may sound weird with all those flavors mixed together, but trust me on this..
Then there was Sunday. Naturally, we went to the beach again. Thankfully we didn’t burn like we did last year. No peeling yet, Kristen! (I’m the MOH in Kristen’s wedding next week and she’s afraid I’m going to peel all over the place. Please pray with me that it doesn’t happen because she might actually hate me. hahahaha) We spent the entire day at the beach, and it was completely perfect. Jaden and Emily joined us; the three of us have pretty much been inseparable in the best possible way. <3 Besides when they encourage me to eat corn dogs at late hours of the night.
Anyway, we all went out Sunday night and it was a blast. Overall, the most perfect ending. Thanks, friends. xx
Oh, and I love to rock denim on denim. Especially as it transitions to fall weather, grab a denim jacket when you’re on the good. It’s usually the perfect jacket to throw on when it gets a little chilly. I tied my tank since I was wearing high waisted jeans since it wasn’t a crop top, and I think it made a great casual look.
