I know I’m a tad behind but it’s 2018.. Happy New Year!
I’ve never been somebody who makes New Year’s resolutions. But I guess this year’s a little different. I don’t know if it’s technically a resolution, but I really am pushing to be my best self. I know, how cliche. Y’all didn’t come here for some corny ass bullshit. Think about though. We all have areas we’d like to improve in our lives. Is it something you’re afraid of? Something you haven’t prioritized? Something or someone you’ve missed? Whatever the issue is, or whatever the excuses you’ve made for yourself, no matter how cliche it is to say you’re going to start something in the new year is.. if you don’t do it now, when? Use the “New Year hype” to finally get shit done because nobody wants to regret anything. You don’t want to put it on the back burner then all of a sudden it’s two years later and still you haven’t done it.
From starting the year off doing Whole30 to dedicating more time and effort into my skincare routine, I’m really trying to hold myself accountable and DO something, not just say I am. It’s not just about my health and body, though. I’m pushing myself to hold this mentality across the board — relationships, school, work, cat momming (Bails needs attention too!), etc. — which means sometimes being pushed to open up or step outside my comfort zone to be *my best self*. And let me be clear here, it’s not about being perfect but making the changes for continuous improvement and getting back in the game when things don’t go as planned. Sometimes it helps to get loved ones involved, too, to help with accountability. I convinced my BFFs Kristen and Bri to do Whole30 with me, and thank goodness because our group texts have kept me sane so far. I’ll keep y’all updated on that…
Anyway, how was everybody’s holidays? I spent a little less than a week in Michigan with my family, which was great. My parents and I went to Downtown Detroit for a day, so we got to check out the cute little pop up holiday market. It was definitely a cold one though. We were super bundled up and had to pop into a couple restaurants to warm up and grab some drinks.
My mom spotted this turtleneck in a boutique in Colorado and insisted I try it on. I have torn feelings for turtlenecks because sometimes I feel trapped and can’t breathe but other times they’re tolerable and cozy. This one passed the test, and I’ve been wearing it pretty frequently. I love to pair any super chunky sweater with skinny jeans or leggings, and I felt like the black jeans helped the detailing of the sweater pop.
Oh, and I obviously had a coat on, too. My dad was in charge of holding it for photos. 😉
Have a great rest of your week, everybody! xx
P.S. I’ve been really into stars lately and was obsessed with this bracelet when I saw it. I considered it for a Christmas gift for somebody else, but you can see how that went… oops.
